About Jakarta International Performing Arts Festival (JIPAF) 2026

Jakarta International Performing Arts Festival (JIPAF) 2026 is an international, multidisciplinary performing arts festival initiated by Kolase Kota Seni and supervised by the Theater Committee of the Jakarta Arts Council.  The festival positions Jakarta as a dynamic urban stage by activating public spaces in the Cikini area, including surrounding urban neighborhoods such as Kampung Kalipasir. These sites are approached not only as performance venues but as living environments where artistic interventions intersect with everyday life.

JIPAF presents site-specific and cross-disciplinary works that explore the relationship between the body, urban landscape, sound, and social experience. Through this approach, the festival reimagines the city as a space of interaction, negotiation, and possibility.

A key focus of JIPAF 2026 is fostering active engagement with local communities. The program encourages the participation of residents as collaborators, participants, and audiences, ensuring that artistic processes are rooted in local contexts while connected to global perspectives.

The program includes public space performances, interdisciplinary works (movement, sound, installation, and media), community-based activities, workshops, and discussions. It brings together national and international artists, alongside local communities, academics, and the wider public.

Scheduled for July 31 – August 2, 2026, JIPAF serves not only as a performance platform but also as a space for cultural dialogue and international exchange. It aims to strengthen Jakarta’s cultural ecosystem, expand global networks, and enhance the city’s international profile as an inclusive, creative, and forward-looking cultural hub.

Ultimately, JIPAF acts as a cultural bridge—connecting artists, citizens, and global audiences—while transforming public space into a shared arena for artistic expression and collective experience.
